The Obama Quandary!

So I think I may have a solution to my present quandary over Obama. In a desperate search on what to do and how to process the state of our national affairs and to keep within my Christian beliefs which I try to adhere to the Bible as the foundation for answers and clues for many things, I’ve found a number of passages which I believe hold the answer.

1) 1Timothy 2:1-4
…first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

The first step I see is prayer, praying for those who are in authority over us. It says we should pray be thankful so peace and calm may reign, with godliness and holiness… The end result being salvation for all who believe.

2) Romans 13:1-7
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities… established by God… whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted… rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right… the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer… submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience… also… pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give… what you owe… If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

3) 1Peter 2:13-17
Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.

What follows next in these 2 passages is submitting to authority and this will serve you well if you believe that Obama or any ruler is in power because of God, I however do not subscribe to that belief. And view our current administration as more of an enemy intent on destroying our nation. So I continued on in search of more scriptures.

4) Matthew 5:43-48
“You have heard… ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

5) Luke 6:27,28
“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

6) Proverbs 16:7
When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Now in complete honesty my intention was to “heap coals” upon the administrations head.
However the verse, Proverbs 25:21,22
“If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
For so you will heap coals of fire on his head, And the Lord will reward you.”,
didn’t really make sense in regards to an entire governmental entity. I mean I certainly am not going to feed and provide drinks for everyone in the Obama admin, besides Obama has a food taster so idk how he’d even be affected!
So I tossed that one aside and looked for others on praying for enemies and the above 3 are what I found.

7) Proverbs 24:17
Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles;

This will be the hardest to abide by, maybe, if somehow if only by the grace of God our country miraculously recovers, socially, economically, environmentally, democratically, historically and any other “lly” that’s relevant, I will be jubilant. But not to hopeful in that. I guess the more realistic outcome will be Obama falls flat on his face and our nation is ruined on every “lly”, I’m not quite sure I’ll be rejoicing if that’s what his fall brings! Only time will tell.

My conclusion is thus… If I trust in God, then I must trust in God. Whether Obama is in power established by God or not, I’m still instructed to pray for those in authority and remain faithful to God. And since I view the Obama admin and the majority of democrats in Congress as enemies destroying our nation, or so it seems to me, again I’m instructed to pray for my enemies.

Condemnation is much easier than praying for those you oppose, but my trust in God is my strength and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Yes even pray for Obama and the democrats in power to be influenced by God to put our Nation back on the track to prosperity and re establish our national mantra of “in God we trust”.

Whom do you serve? God or man?

Inspired by my cousin who stated… “I find that through debate and discussion, one revelation… that those who preach, tolerance, acceptance and love, are usually those that insult, degrade and hate without justifiable cause.

My reply:
“Tolerance, acceptance and love have there place, but truth, morality and forgiveness should be key. But the problem lies with the lack of God for which all things are based even if atheists don’t want to accept a God. My reason for such a claim is thus… Without God where does morality come from? If not God then man? And if man is the base for morality then morality is flawed and subject to individuality. That becomes problematic in the sense that an individual can decide that murder is not morally wrong, nor any other sin or socially accepted wrong. When you convince the entire society that the foundation for its beliefs are no longer valid or have any “real” authority, moral decay quickly spreads.
So either God is our foundation or man? Whom do you serve?”

This got me thinking how true or at least my perception of truth this is. Almost every people on the planet has some type of religion, God, moral foundation based on a higher being. And everyone of those agrees on the same principles of what is “socially acceptable” or “morally acceptable”. Every race, creed, and nation believes that murder, theft, and rape is wrong. So logically speaking how could every person(not including psychotics) know those things are morally wrong without a God? And why would everyone willing accept such laws if they were merely man made laws? Let me play devils advocate for a bit.

Let’s take 10,000 people who decide that murder, theft and rape are acceptable and give them their own country. Well after some time they may or may not figure out that, that type of mentality will only lead to extinction so they decide to follow some type of civil code of law. So I suppose it is possible for man to figure out it needs laws to follow for continuing existence. But still I insist that by creating man-made laws to follow man would find fault with those laws, by arguing that man doesn’t hold power over another man. So what then…

Create laws claiming these laws were given to men by God. Problem solved, God created laws to control men, man can not claim superiority to an unknown, unexplained God, the grand scheme created by men to control men by the guise of an omnipotent absent God. That would be the a great explanation if it wasn’t for the fact that every people has a similar version of laws and a divine being. If you really think that God is a story to control the populous, how do you explain that every populous has similar values, morals and laws(all before the Internet)?

I challenge anyone to prove to me that God(and all His forms) is a made up being by humans in every cultural of every race and nationality, worldwide from the beginning of time as a way to control it’s people with laws and morality to ensure their existence or just to have civil order in their land.

For three religions specifically I can say that their law comes from the “Old Testament” the “Ten Commandments” which outlines what laws that they should follow. Were there laws before these? Yes. However I’m not going to reference them because I believe I made my point that God transcends time, region, thought, but His laws are the same for all people, even those not familiar with the 10 commandments.

But for those who have been given the Bible as a foundation for living and following God, we need to stay grounded in that knowledge and not be lead astray by progressive thinking. Many will try and convince you that the Bible is old fashion, hypocritical, hateful, man-made, erroneous, etc… But the truth is, though it was written by man, it has been shown to be the only book that has the least amount of errors when transcribed because of the stringent copying practices of the monks. And that the original papyrus papers writings are almost identical if not identical to the current writings contained in today’s Bible.
Hypocrisy in respect to not accepting sinful actions, is not hypocrisy. Acknowledging homosexuality, murder, theft, lying, drunkenness, etc, are sins and not acknowledging that those people are also eligible for salvation and forgiveness IS hypocrisy! Not accepting a theft’s thievery, a homosexuals sex life, a murder’s bloodlust, a liar’s slander is NOT hypocrisy.
Hatefulness and those who use the Bible to promote hate are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Do not trust anyone who promotes or condones hate by way of the Bible, it is contrary to God and Jesus. God has tried numerous times to convince people to turn from their wicked ways, before offering Jesus as the perfect sacrifice. It is His blood that atones for everyone’s sins who call on the name of Jesus Christ the Savior. No exceptions, EVERYONE can ask and will receive!

So does this still sound like some grand scheme to make people act nice and civil towards each other? If you answered yes, me thinks you give far to much credit to humanity… But be that as it may, the question still remains… Whom do you serve, God or man?

It’s the end of the world as we know it, but I feel fine!

Putting some scripture here to keep me on the right track while I feel a sense of doom looming over our nation. Sadly, I forget to keep my eyes on Jesus, but thankfully He always manages to get me back on track.

Matthew 10:16-20
“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves… be as shrewd as snakes… innocent as doves. Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils… flogged in the synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
21-23
“Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
26-27, 31
“So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul… So don’t be afraid…
34-39
“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn
“‘a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’
“Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.

Luke 21:8-11
“Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”… “Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom… great earthquakes, famines, pestilences… fearful events and great signs from heaven.
12-19
“But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you… hand you over to synagogues, put you in prison… brought before kings and governors… all on account of my name. And so you will bear testimony to me… make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. Everyone will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life.
20-24
“When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies… desolation is near… those… in Judea flee to the mountains… those in the city get out… those in the country not enter the city… this is the time of punishment… great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25-28, 31
“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”… when you see these things… know that the kingdom of God is near.
34-36
“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day… will come on all those who live on… earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

John 15:10, 12, 14-17
“If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love… My command… Love each other as I have loved you… You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you… This is my command: Love each other.
18-21, 24-25
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own… you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you… If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me… they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father… to fulfill… their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’

2 Timothy 3:1-5
… There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
6-8
They… worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth… men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.
12-17
In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived… but… continue in what you have learned and… convinced of… from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness… thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I did shorten the verses, but the message remains the same: that the end is near, we will be hated, we will be abused, we are to keep our faith, know our scripture, remain true to our Savior, and He is triumphant.

Everyday I have been subjecting myself to news from around the world, for about 3-6 months on and off. My outlook has changed for the worse since the autumn of 2012. On the global scale, life to me has never seemed so dismal, it just may be nothing more than the advances in technology where we now know all the world’s issue in a flash, and life has always been this wretched.

However, in a nation that was founded by men looking for religious freedom over 200 years fought and won that freedom, by law granting that inalienable right of religious freedom. Christians who did not want to be persecuted by the church and taxed and enslaved by an oppressive government, would be mortified as to the state of their beloved country. Their own country where Christians are being mocked and brow-beaten because of their close minded views on Gods own words. Constantly being questioned about the validity and veracity of the Bible, condemning it as nothing more then a good moral story to keep man in tow.

Our moral fabric has been rent, global economy is out of control, anyway I’m not going to list everything that’s out of whack, because y’all should know it already. So though I shall continue to stay informed of global news, I will bear in mind that God is ultimately in control no matter what the condition of the planet is in.

God, government- in whom do you trust

Still doing some research on this one. Early on the Bible tells us how the Hebrews cried out for a ruler and even after understanding their work made the king rich, they insisted they wanted a king, and so it was. But almost(if not) every country, town, village has some type of rule. Whether a monarch, government, chief, sheriff, etc… So why is this? My thought is people just need to be governed, the collective masses aren’t competent enough to govern themselves. This is not an attack on intelligence but an observation, intelligence is not needed to control people. Charisma, confidence and a strong character, those qualities that most leaders have, are what attracts followers. Now intelligence or wisdom is an added plus, but many people have been led to their demise from savvy speakers, not wise leaders.

We are not all leaders, and that is good to a point. But we all can not be followers as well, someone needs to lead. Now since the world we live in is almost entirely inhabited and has some kind of rule, along with laws making immigration lengthy and tedious, chances are you are going to live in the country your were born in. That means we need to accept the leaders who are in charge of the nation, or start the process of immigration, defect, or illegally immigrate or whatever desperate people do to escape their countries. But even so you will still be subject to someone’s rule.

This has become quite a difficult subject for me. I have done some reading into history and laws and different governments, etc. And still not any closer to solving, nor understanding our nations problems(not that I really expected too). However I did come across a blog, which I believe I shared on FB and possibly on here?, that gave me something to think about and that is God. God has not intended for us to live out our lives on earth forever, but to live in accordance to His ways, trusting in Him for all things. He also tells us to abide by the laws of our government. And to pray for those in charge. Another difficult area, but that is what The Bible says(Jer 29:7 seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. & 1Tim 2:1&2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness) So, I will pray for Obama and the leaders of our country, because my trust in God and His faithfulness is the only thing I have in what looks like uncertainty, entitlement, injustice, and numerous lies.

When the time comes who can I really depend on for food, water, shelter? Myself, yes God does provide and will provide, but He gives us knowledge and abilities. Ok let me rephrase, because I should never list myself first. God first, then myself (the blessings God has given me to fend provide and learn in order to survive). In a failed government where wealth begins to dwindle do you think they will continue to dole out food, money and take care of all your needs? God warns us to not be lazy for the lazy wont eat( 2Thes 3:10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this:
“If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.” & Prov 21:25 The craving of a sluggard will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work.)

So while our earthly future is uncertain as it always is, our heavenly end is secured. I know where my allegiance lies, first in God then somewhere down the line my country. Now if I could just convince everyone to do the same! Lol.

I love me

Wow, am I in love with myself or what? Every blog seems to revolve around me. What I think, where I’ve been, what I’ve done, who I am, egocentric much? And this one is no different, though I’m going to try to use it as a base to understanding why I’m so focused on myself.

Now idk if everyone feels the same about themselves, that they know better than everyone else, or their experiences or opinions are more valid than others, but I find myself thinking these thoughts, but at the same time chastising myself for feeling that way, because I know that is NOT the truth. However the battle remains within me. The questions continually bombard my thoughts:
How can people be so stupid?
Are people really that ignorant?
Why are people so greedy?
Don’t people see the obvious?
Why am I surrounded by morons?

Now I don’t feel this way about the people who are directly in my life, because I’m blessed that I have a wonderful family that includes blood, marital, church and friends, so I don’t include them in my frustration with the general populous.

Even so what gives me such an arrogant perspective? I am not highly educated, nor born of aristocracy or wealth, I haven’t traversed the planet with unending tales of experiences, yet I put myself on such a platform as a well-versed sage. To what end I ask myself? Is it really about me and my self-professed wisdom, or do I really think I can help and encourage others, or is it a way to weed through my thoughts and validate or dispel fact from fiction? Or maybe a combination of them all. So do I really think I am the most level-headed, intelligent, knowledgable, informed and experienced person on the planet? No, I do not. Nor do I even come close. So what compels me to feel like I am better than those people who I view as clueless? I’m searching my mind for an answer even as I write this. Ugh! I can not think of a valid reason other than I am some self-absorbed egocentric deluded fool. Yes a fool for thinking I’m better & smarter.

However as frustrating as I find ignorance and stupidity, there will always be someone who views me in the same light and rightfully so. Well then, I think I’ve found my answer. It’s not to judge, condemn or ridicule anyone for any reason. It’s to understand that the world is filled with billions of people each with their own limits; intellectually, socially, economically, physically, psychologically and so forth. And I am not called to be their judge or accuser but to be a beacon of hope, a path of light, an example of Christ’s love. So yes my blogs are filled with me for I can only call on my experiences as references for my life. And I hope that my blogs reflect the side of me that is Christian, as I continue to grow in Christ’s love. Hopefully I will continue to understand my faults and shortcomings, learn from them and adjust them to better serve God.

And I do love me, not because I am better than everyone else, but because God loves me just the way I am. He has given me hope and comfort. And at times when I feel alone, lost, confused, desperate, angry, that my faith is fleeting, there’s nothing to look forward to, the world is in turmoil, and I’m surrounded by people in need, there is God in all His glory to remind me that He is in control. Not me. He knows all. Not me. He loves me and I love Him.

It is in Him that we are made complete. God is love. My lesson is complete. Thank You Lord for teaching me once again.

Body of God

1 Corinthians 12

Spiritual Gifts

There are different kinds of gifts… There are different kinds of service… There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. (4-6)

Now to each… the Spirit is given for the common good. To one… a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge… to another faith… to another gifts of healing… to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. (7-11)

Unity and Diversity in the Body

Just as a body, though one, has many parts… so it is with Christ(the church)… baptized… to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. (12-14)

God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be… As it is, there are many parts, but one body… there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other… If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. God has placed in the church apostles, prophets, teachers, miracles, gifts of healing, helping, guidance, and different kinds of tongues.

(Shorten for easier reading, but the point remains clear. Together as one we serve God for His glory)

As a Christian who has come a long way in learning and trying to live in accordance with the laws of God, found within His holy word, The Bible, I see the totality of this “body of Christ”. Now the body of Christ is not a local thing, or a denominational thing it’s an all encompassing church that includes everyone of every denomination that accepts Christ as their Savior. How do I know this? Can I prove this? Well truth is I do not know with concrete facts or information, the best I can do is provide some scripture to back my belief.

1 John 4:7-21 (shortened denoted by…)
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love…God showed his love… He sent his… Son into the world that we might live through him… his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

Well if that passage doesn’t convince you that all Christians of every faith are part of the church than don’t bother to read on. But if you’re a little curious how this plays out continue on. Now back to my point the body of Christ.

The church and God is more than a bunch of rules to keep people in check. It’s about love, understanding, encouragement and support to name just a few. God is the entirety of what we as humans need. There is a spiritual component to our being that needs to be met and without God there will always be something missing. But convincing you of that is not the goal here, my goal is to provide an understanding of what the church is about and how we all are an integral part of the whole. Now being part of the church is attending church, that would be the obvious starting point. Next I would say open your heart for whatever God may have planned for you.(Jer29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.)
You will eventually realize that your talents, personality and experiences make you unique in how God will use you. God does not view man as we view each other with bias, where man looks to the external and obvious, God knows a mans heart. To put this plainly, a wealthy, educated, dapper businessman is not more important or useful than a migrant field worker when it comes to serving Christ. They are equal in Gods eyes, each one has gifts given by God to serve His church if they choose too. And service in the church ranges from the smallest detail to grand affairs, numerous outreach programs to visiting one house-bound person. The list is seriously nearly endless. If you truly want to know leave a comment and I’d be happy to list my churches many areas where it’s members participate daily to help in keeping to body of Christ up and running to continue to provide a place of worship and fellowship.

Now the “body of Christ” “church” “Christians” not only exists in the building we call church, but everywhere. We are called to look after one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. And if the situation presents itself to bring others to know the glorious freedom of salvation and forgiveness through Christ our savior. As part of this church I am amazed, overjoyed and thrilled that I get to both give and receive innumerable blessings as a servant of God.

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
